Will Smith has been the butt of criticism for a while now. The negative publicity about his children, the media’s coverage about Jada’s entanglement with August, their religious beliefs and on and on it has gone. Now, Jada’s hair loss condition seems to have taken center stage. Considering all that his transpired with this family and Jada’s balding condition- perhaps this was the inopportune time for this kind of joke.

Mr. Nice guy- Will Smith was being so very human when he slapped Chris Rock.

In this moment he choose to be human and not the perfect class act we know him to be. And I do believe Will Smith is right! We have watched him traverse the music industry, to the big screen all while having a family and facing the pressures of being a man of colour in America. Up to this point, he deserves the plaudits.

I believe Chris Rock’s comments wasn’t necessarily harsh but it certainly was insensitive. The joke may have been funny but it perhaps was in poor taste. The other question here is when does a joke go too far? How would a comedian know when his joke is no longer inspiring laughs but indignation.

The comments about Jada’s condition seemed to have been a trigger of sorts. There are even so who believes this moments was contrived.

Was Will Smith overreacting during the 2022 Oscars or was his behaviour justified? Did Chris Rock go too far?

We believe it was. Considering that the moment overshadowed the accomplishments of so many hard working blacks that night. There is absolutely nothing Will Smith can do to correct the events of 2022 Oscars. The moment is recorded forever.

What is even more memorable in our mind is Will Smith was actually allowed to stay at the Oscars that night. Why was was Will Smith allowed to remain among the attendees that night? Certainly, no one on this night could accuse the academy of treating minorities unfairly. Conveniently, The Guardian reported that On Wednesday, the Academy suggested that it attempted to remove the actor from the audience.

Then, comedian Jim Carey upon the promotion of his latest movie, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" referenced the recent Will Smith/Chris Rock Oscar drama when said, “I gotta get out of here before I slap someone. https://www.sonicthehedgehog.com

Again totally inappropriate; considering the freshness of the Will Smith- Chris Rock escapade! Funny but wrong timing Jim!
